LASIK, or Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, is a transformative, minimally invasive procedure designed to reshape the cornea — the clear front part of your eye — to correct common vision problems like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. With this procedure, you’ll no longer have to depend on glasses or contacts for clear vision.
An ICL, also called an Implantable Collamer® Lens, is a refractive implant to correct myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. This clear lens is surgically implanted through a microscopic opening in the cornea to sit in front of the eye’s natural lens, behind the iris (pupil). Unlike a contact lens on the eye, this lens is implanted permanently in the eye.
Unlike some other vision correction options, EVO is an additive technology that corrects vision without the removal of any corneal tissue. EVO is meant to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contacts and unlike most permanent refractive solutions, EVO is removable.
More than 2 million EVO ICLs have been implanted in the world.
Photorefractive Keratectomy, more commonly called PRK, is a laser vision correction procedure. PRK is often a good solution for people with thinner than normal corneas—but your surgeon will be able to determine which procedure is best for your individual needs.
